This report is one of a series documenting the New Zealand Land Resource Inventory (NZLRI). It describes the Land Use Capability (LUC) for the second-edition NZLRI (1:50 000 scale) of the Gisborne - East Coast region.

The report provides keys to the recognition of the 104 LUC units defined for the region, and includes such features as soils, erosion status, agricultural and forestry productivity, general management requirements for sustainable use, and a description of the region's land resources.

This second-edition classification and NZLRI replaces the now 25-year-old first-edition NZLRI of the region. Other LUC reports are available through this web site.
