Presents principles of land evaluation and describes the land characteristics from which classifications are to be derived. The range of land characteristics allows interpretation for a variety of land uses. Guidelines on how to apply the principles in the manual to derive classifications from the land characteristics are provided.
Land evaluation is the process of interpreting the opportunities and limitations presented by biophysical factors, in relation to the requirements of specific land uses. The evaluations are intended in assist land managers and planners to optimise the use of their reseources, and to promote land use that is economically viable and environmentally sustainable.
